I started selling guns and knives in 1997, back when I was a police officer and a State Trooper in Kansas. Cops are gadget freaks. We like anything shiny, and it wasn't long before I was buying and trading more than I was carrying on duty.
By 1999 I'd moved the whole operation to my kitchen table, and in 2000 I took it online. In 2005, my wife Tobi and I moved back to Weatherford, and we were both all in on the firearms business by then.
What we noticed was simple: there was nowhere in Western Oklahoma for people to actually come and shoot. No public range, no place to test what you'd bought or learn to handle it right. That was the gap we built Tin Star to fill.
Tin Star Today
We opened Tin Star Shooting Range in July of 2007, and Tobi and I ran it together for years. Today we sell firearms and gear to customers across the country, ship every order for a flat $10.95, and handle firearm transfers in-house for $25 cash at pickup. We carry suppressors and facilitate NFA transfers from other licensed dealers too. We're not gunsmiths, so we don't do repairs or custom work, but we're glad to point you toward people in the area who do.
Tobi and I kept this place running together until June of 2025, when her health took a hard turn. She's been the other half of Tin Star since the beginning, and that hasn't changed.
